House of Reps' New Rule on Mace-snatching will Bring Sanity'

 

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly,  Dr. Ali Ahmad has said that, the introduction of new rules into the House of Representatives Standing Orders which henceforth ban mace-snatching by members would go a long way of bringing  sanity to the House. 

Ahmad who described the act of mace- snatching as unparliamentary,  said that anything that challenges the symbol of authority of the House or for the Speaker to control the House must always be met with maximum disciplinary measure to serve as deterrent to others.

Ahmad who represented Ilorin East/ Ilorin South federal constituency during the 7th national assembly in Abuja spoke with  journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday on  the new rules introduced by the members of the House of  Reps to ban mace-snatching and discourage members' bad conduct.

He said that such a step would put a stop to the ugly practice in the future.
