Nasarawa United awarded Caf Confederation Cup ticket

NFF confirms Nasarawa United for Caf Confederation Cup
The Solid Miners have secured a place on the continent following the Nigeria Football Federation's appellant panel decision

The Appeal Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Nasarawa United will represent the country in the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup.
Earlier, the League Management Company had awarded three points and three goals to the Solid Miners following their inconclusive Week 38 game against Giwa FC in Lafia, a decision Giwa had challenged at the NFF.

However, the NFF Disciplinary Committee ordered that the abandoned match be concluded contravening the LMC decision against Giwa FC refusing to finish the game which was a  breach of article B13.26 of the Framework and Rules of the NPFL.
But Nasarawa United appealed the judgment pronounced by the Barrister Christopher Green led Disciplinary Committee on ordering the conclusion of the botched encounter.
Meanwhile, the NFF appeal committee on Thursday overruled the verdict of the Disciplinary Committee verdict and approved the continental ticket of Nasarawa United.
It also ordered a fine of N3 million and a deduction of three points from Giwa FC, crediting Lafia with three points and three goals.
According to the chairman of the appeal committee, Eddy Mark, our decision was taken in consonance with the rule book of the league.
Following the verdict of the appeal committee, Nasarawa United have concluded the season in third position with 63 points edging both Wikki Tourists and Giwa FC to the Caf Confederation Cup ticket.
The Solid Miners join Akwa United who won the 2015 Federation Cup to qualify automatically for the second tier Caf competition.
The top two places of the NPFL table of the 2014/15 season remain unchanged with league champions Enyimba and Warri Wolves sealing the Caf Champions League spots.
