Court Jails Man for Stabbing Mechanic

A Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced, Abdul Sani, to two months imprisonment for stabbing another in a mechanic workshop. Sani, 33, of Kado, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge of causing grievous hurt.

The Senior Magistrate, Nuhu Tukur, who sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty, however, gave him an option to pay a fine of N10, 000. Tukur, who ordered the convict to pay N4,000 compensation to the complainant for his medical treatment, warned him to desist from committing crime.
Prosecutor Urom Otu had told the court that Yunusa Bunu of Life camp, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life camp Police Station on March 18. Otu said that the convict and the complainant had a misunderstanding at the auto mechanic workshop in Life Camp.

He said that the argument started after the complainant made a suggestion to the mechanic repairing the convict’s vehicle.

He said that the convict didn’t like it and that led to a bitter and violent argument and the convict grabbed a sharp object and stabbed the complainant on his right hand.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 246 of the Penal Code.
