 Google’s parent company, Alphabet, on Wednesday overtook Apple as the world’s most valuable company. Google was briefly valued at $558 billion.
Google and Apple are almost an everyday part of modern life in the form of smartphone processors, iOS, for the Apple iPhone, or Android, Google’s processor.
And for most people, even iPhone geeks, things like GMail and Google Maps for correspondence and navigation are essentials. So the two tech giants are expectedly neck and neck in the battle for the world’s most valuable company.
Business Insider reports that this afternoon, Google’s parent company Alphabet overtook Apple.
After an 8% surge in share price following a strong earnings report, Alphabet/Google was valued at $558 billion dollars. Apple is still a very nice stock to own, with the company currently valued at $534 billion. Business Insider reports that things settled down in after hours trading, with Alphabet trading up 5.27% for a value of $544 billion, closer to Apple’s.
